Two Oxnard Injured When Westlake Driver Loses Control of Car on Highway 101
April 26, 2010
A suspected drunken driver crashed into a parked car along Highway 101 Tuesday, injuring two women waiting in the car for assistance.
Police were preparing to pull over Dawn Marie Davis of Westlake Village for erratic driving when she careened into an SUV parked on the side of the highway and caused it to flip, which in turn crashed into another vehicle also parked on the shoulder.
The two women in the car—Daisy Gutierrez, 22, and Melissa Henry, 21, both of Oxnard—sustained injuries in the crash and were transported to a local hospital. Gutierrez possibly broke her back, and Reid complained of pain.
Henry stopped on the shoulder of the road when she ran out of gas, then called Gutierrez for help. The pair had trouble filling the vehicle, so they called another friend for assistance and were waiting in Gutierrez’s SUV for help to arrive when Davis lost control of her vehicle.
Davis, 32, of Westlake Village, was also treated at the hospital for pain and a head laceration before police arrested her on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
